UV PCO (Photo catalytic oxidation) Technology was developed by NASA to remove ethylene gases and other toxins within the Space Station. This is the most advanced filtration technology to date. The latest oxidation technology process creates advanced oxidation of friendly oxidizers. Unlike ozone, these oxidizers are safe, yet effectively neutralize heavy odors, toxic gases, heavy metals, carcinogens, chemical pollutants and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). It also aggressively kills biological contaminants like, mold, bacteria, viruses airborne and on surfaces like countertops.

PCO technology has been used for over a decade with other applications including: healthcare, water, air, food, and laundry.

PCO technology is an extremely powerful purification method; the Air-Vac Systems UV series units eliminate particles as small as 0.001 microns, including microscopic, penetrating particles that can absorb into the lungs and cause damage. By contrast HEPA filters are only able to filter out particles as small as 0.3 microns. HEPA filters tend to diminish the CFM power of an air cleaner because you are pulling dirty air through such a tight filter, thus spending more money on a higher CFM air cleaner.

Redundant Oxidation

Converts ozone into five ions: hydroxyl, hydro peroxide, super oxide, ozonide and negative ions. By utilizing redundant oxidizers you receive greater benefits than that of ozone alone, without the harmful side effects of an ozone air purifier.

Ion Blanket

Redundant oxidizers reduces and protects from mold, bacteria, fungus, viruses, chemicals, VOCs, pollen, dander, odors, etc. not only in the air but on surfaces such as desks, equipment & counter tops.

UVC Radiation

UVC lamps utilize the short wavelength of UV that is harmful to forms of life at the micro-organic level. It is effective in destroying the nucleic acids in these organisms so that their DNA is disrupted by the UV radiation, which is a form of ionizing radiation. This removes their reproductive capabilities and/or kills them. This can only be achieved using a UVC or UVX lamp in the 254 nm range.

Gas / Vapor Decomposition

Gas and vapors are decomposed at a molecular level and not just partially trapped in a filter media.

How It Works

Stage 1:

A 4” common pleated filter is used to economically capture the larger particles in the air while keeping the cost of the filter to an absolute minimum. This filter can be changed most often with the least cost.

Stage 2:

A 15” long 12 pocket 95% ASHRAE bag filter handles the largest share of the particulate filtration process. The bag filter is readily available and economical to replace on a regular basis.

Stage 3:

A 2” activated granular charcoal filter absorbs gaseous air contaminants by bonding them to the molecular structure of the carbon surface. Adsorption is an added method for reducing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and odors in the air.

Stage 4:

Titanium Oxide Catalyst filter: Assists UV Cell in creating the process of PCO.

Stage 5:

Air-Vac Boasts the largest PCO module in the industry which incorporates the latest in Ultraviolet (UV) light radiation and Photo Catalytic Oxidation (PCO) to destroy molds, bacteria, and toxic organic compounds. Simply adding a UV lamp to a filter system will not achieve the same results. PCO is required to clean the air. This stage completes the entire process of cleaning your air of particles, gases, and toxic compounds suspended in the air you breathe in your shop.
